Golden Leaf Partners with Big Brothers Big Sisters to Bring Holiday Cheer to Youth in the Program

Flint, MI 12/11/2023 — Golden Leaf Club has joined hands with Big Brothers Big Sisters to spread joy and support during the holiday season. As a Black-owned business with a long-rich history in Flint, making a positive impact in the community is a priority, especially for our youth. This partnership aims to provide assistance to the youth enrolled in the Big Brothers Big Sisters’ Mentoring programs, ensuring they experience the warmth and excitement of the holidays.

The Golden Leaf has taken a collection from its guests and members to sponsor Big Brothers Big Sisters’ youth and families this holiday season and will present to the organization on Friday, December 15th at 4pm. Golden Leaf members are enthusiastic about providing this support for a 2nd year in a row, fostering a sense of community and shared joy. Charles Paschal, Golden Leaf Club member, spearheaded the effort, wanting to ensure that the donation went directly to community members in need.  They are excited to conduct another check presentation in the upcoming weeks and hope to exceed the $900 they raised in 2022.

Lisa Humphrey, President/CEO at Big Brothers Big Sisters, expressed gratitude for Golden Leaf’s support: “We are grateful to the Golden Leaf Club and their donation will bring smiles to the faces of so many youth in our program. The holiday season can be challenging for many, and this contribution allows us to make a positive impact and create wonderful memories that will be cherished for a lifetime.”

This partnership aligns with both Golden Leaf Club and Big Brothers Big Sisters’ shared values of community, mentorship, and making a difference in the lives of young people. Together, they aim to inspire others to join in the spirit of giving and contribute to the well-being of the community.

About Golden Leaf Club

Since 1921, The Golden Leaf Club has been THE spot for Live Jazz, Funk, R&B and Blues and is located at 1522 Harrison St, Flint, MI 48503. Originally called the Maple Leaf, was founded specifically as a club for Black people as it was difficult for Black-owned businesses like bars to get liquor licenses so registering it as a social club required less restrictions. While the Golden Leaf Club is owned by its members, Lottie Reid has served as its manager since 1992.
