Free legal assistance for Genesee County Residents from the State Bar of Michigan

Flint Neighborhoods United-

There is a new way for residents of Flint and Genesee County to get answers to their legal questions. The State Bar of Michigan, the Genesee County Bar Association, and Legal Services of Eastern Michigan have recently partnered to bring this new program to Genesee County.

The program is called MI Free Legal Answers, and it operates like an online legal aid clinic, except there are no lines or day and time restrictions, and the whole interaction can occur from the comfort of the home, workplace, or the library.

Visitors that income-qualify (earning less than 200% of the Federal Poverty Guidelines or roughly $48,600 per year for a family of 4) can post their questions, and have real Michigan lawyers provide an answer. The website is free and easy to use, and designed to be mobile friendly. Visitors can log on from any device, at any time, all they need is an internet connection and an e-mail address. Individuals can ask three questions per calendar year.

We are trying to get the word out to potential visitors, and we hope to help your citizens with potential legal issues, from rental or lease issues with landlords, family law questions, education-related issues, to immigration, tax, or other legal issues. Visitors can ask any non-criminal question.

Please share this information and program with other groups or individuals that may be helped with access to an attorney.

I was hoping that you could share this information with your community. I have attached a pdf flier that you can print and display – I also have hard copies and business card handouts that I can mail. If you would like copies, let me know and I will send some out right away!

We also have smaller logos that would fit nicely on your website.

We have a number of attorneys waiting to answer questions!

Please contact me with any questions you may have, or if you know of other groups in Genesee County I should contact.

Thank you for your time.
