Community Education Initiative Brings Together Community, Provides Resources

Local Organizations Partner to Provide Programs and Resources at Brownell/Holmes STEM Academy

(FLINT, MI) – The Community Education Initiative, launched at Brownell/Holmes STEM Academy, is gaining traction! More than 20 partner organizations have come together to provide students and families with programming and resources to help remove barriers to success for Flint youth.

“The Community Education Initiative is designed to bring community resources together to support students, families, and community members by providing everything they might need to create an active and healthy environment for learning,” said Crim Fitness Foundation CEO Gerry Myers. “So many partner organizations are stepping up to join the Community Education Initiative that provides an opportunity for students to engage in experiential learning. It is truly a community effort.”

Partner organizations are providing resources and programs such as an on-site WIC clinic, a health navigator, nutrition education, physical activity programs, literacy tutoring, sports, staff support and much more.
