Water Resource Sites Remain Operational on Presidents Day

Sites will be open per normal business hours.

FLINT, Mich. – Flint water system customers are reminded that all Community Water Resource Sites will be open during normal hours on Presidents Day, according to the Michigan State Police, Emergency Management and Homeland Security Division (MSP/EMHSD). Per normal business hours, the sites will be open from noon until 6:00 p.m.

Individuals in need of bottled water, faucet filters, replacement cartridges and at-home water testing kits are able to access supplies at any of the nine locations on Monday, February 20.

“We will have plenty of bottled water, faucet filters, replacement cartridges and at-home testing kits for anyone who needs them” said Capt. Chris Kelenske, Deputy State Director of Emergency Management and Homeland Security and commander of the MSP/EMHSD.

If a residence does not have a faucet filter installed in their kitchen, they should “Call for CORE” at 810-238-6700 for assistance from the CORE program. CORE teams are made up of Flint residents trained to provide families with what they need, including information on filter installation and maintenance, water use, faucet aerator maintenance and cleaning, and medical resources available. The CORE program is supported by the City of Flint and the State of Michigan.

Residents who are homebound or have access or functional needs should call United Way 2-1-1 to schedule a rapid response delivery.

To obtain water supplies or recycle water bottles and used cartridges, please visit any one of following nine locations. The hours of operation are Monday through Saturday Noon to 6 p.m. and closed on Sunday.

  • Ross Plaza, 2320 W. Pierson Road (Ward 1)
  • St. Mark Missionary Baptist Church, 3020 DuPont St. (Ward 2)
  • Mt. Calvary Missionary Baptist Church, 4805 N. Saginaw St. (Ward 3)
  • Franklin Avenue Lot, 2804 N. Franklin Ave. (Ward 4)

  • Lincoln Park United Methodist Church, 3410 Fenton Road (Ward 8)
  • Eastown Bowling Alley, 3001 S. Dort Highway (Ward 9)

Every Community Water Resource Site also accepts water supply recycling. Residents can drop off empty water bottles and used cartridges at all nine locations.

Since Jan. 9, through Water Response Teams and Water Resource Sites, more than 4,281,776 cases of bottled water; 149,283 faucet filters; 326,101 replacement cartridges; and 57,615 at-home water testing kits have been distributed to Flint water system customers.

Under a consensus of local, state, federal and outside experts, water filters are effective in removing lead from water. All populations may consume filtered water. Residents are encouraged to use their water as much as possible to prevent standing water and to reduce the risk of contaminants in the system.

The state of Michigan’s mission continues to ensure Flint residents have access to safe, clean drinking water. Until the water meets quality standards, bottled water, faucet filters and replacement cartridges will be supplied as needed to Flint water system customers through the water resource sites and the CORE teams.
