Two Upcoming Community Events

Good Afternoon Neighbors,

I hope all is well with you! We wanted to reach out to make sure that you were aware of two upcoming events, one discussion as part of Communities First, Inc.’s Community Candor Series and another key meeting about the rebuild of I-475 that is being hosted by the Michigan Department of Transportation (MDOT).

First, CFI is hosting the first of a four part series of Community Candor discussions focusing on Housing and City Planning. Be sure to join us this Thursday March 17th at 12:00pm on Facebook Live and on YouTube for Housing 101: Starting With the Basics. We’ll discuss the basics of housing in our state and region, what kinds of housing we see built, how it can be funded, and what major challenges are. Panelists from across the State of Michigan will join us for this wonderful discussion. If you cannot join at Noon, a recording will be available on both sites afterwards! Also tune in for several more discussions in April and May on housing and planning in our community.

Secondly, MDOT’s once-in-a-generation rebuild of I-475 is a unique opportunity to reconnect our neighborhoods, and there is a major public meeting coming up on Tuesday, March 22nd at 5:30pm at The Whiting (1241 E. Kearsley St.). NOTE: The meeting was previously scheduled to be at the Flint Institute of Music, but has been moved to the Whiting. You can read more about this effort below, and please be sure to attend and make your voice heard!”
