The Volunteer Services Assistant will work with our team on programming related to the PATH program. This program helps people who are on cash assistance to connect with volunteer opportunities that may lead to employment. We also run a series of three-week programs known as Community Service for Success in which we are imparting life skills, helping participants overcome barriers, and volunteering as a group at local nonprofits alongside our PATH participants. You would help teach modules in this program.
This position requires work in many different settings and locations in the Flint area, both indoors and outdoors; therefore, a vehicle and valid driver’s license are required.
Applicants need good written and verbal skills and should enjoy working with people. Computer skills required (Microsoft Office, Excel, Access preferred). We especially need someone who is detail oriented, has good organizational skills, and will be persistent in gathering information each month from our partner agencies. Bachelor’s degree preferred.
Must be able to lift and move up to 30 lbs. for short distances. Human or social services experience a plus. If you are handy with carpentry, gardening, or yard work this is also a plus.
The position is 29 hours a week (Tues-Fri) and pays $12 an hour. It is grant funded.
