PRESS RELEASE: Advice on Running Water Taps No Longer Urged

City of Flint No Longer Advising Residents to Run Water through Taps as Double Digit Below Zero Temperatures Recede

Flint, Michigan – February 23, 2015 – The City of Flint is no longer urging residents to run water through their taps to prevent pipe freezing. Now that the weather forecast in Flint is calling for an end to double digit below zero temperatures, the risk to indoor plumbing has been abated enough to end the precautionary measure. The previous week was one of the coldest on record for the Flint area, creating weather related concerns which prompted the City of Flint to recommend the measure.
