Flint, Mich.– Thoughts of the former Flint Farmers Market located at 420 E. Boulevard invoke fond memories for many of shopping for produce, meeting up with friends and enjoying tasty treats. Since the market moved to its new location on East First Street, the Boulevard building has been vacant. A local nonprofit, Communities First, Inc. is exploring the idea of transforming the space into the Flint Artist Market. The site would feature opportunities for entrepreneurs to display, sale and perhaps even create pieces on site.
An initial community input session was held on July 12 and since then, Communities First, Inc. has worked to incorporate community voice into a redevelopment plan for the area. More than 200 people participated in the initial community input session either in person or online. The community is invited to attend a follow up session on November 14 from 5:30pm until 6:30pm to see the preliminary plans for the site. Residents, vendors, crafters, artists, kids and other interested parties are encouraged to participate. The session will be held at the former Flint Farmers Market and will include an opportunity for participants to weigh in on the plan.
