January 2022 Redistricting Update from Communities First, Inc.

Good Morning Everyone,

On December 28th, 2021, the Michigan Independent Citizens Redistricting Commission adopted new district boundaries for all Michigan seats in the US House of Representatives, Michigan Senate, and Michigan House of Representatives. Communities First, Inc. worked closely with the Michigan Nonprofit Association, residents, community organizations, and advocates throughout 2021 to ensure that the voices of residents were heard in this process. This was the first time in Michigan’s history that an independent commission, not elected officials, drew the boundaries for these districts.

The article below provides a good overview of what has changed with these new maps. Pending potential changes from legal challenges, these districts will be the districts that Michigan voters will vote in for the next decade. Have a look to know how these changes affect where you live!
