A wonderful friend of the community, Captain Nilsen, Owner of the Flint Firebirds would like to get more kids out to the games and is also willing to assist with transportation. The games are on the following dates: February 24th, 25th, and March 3rd, and 11th.

It looks like our Firebirds will be heading to the playoffs this year and I personally love taking my son to the games. One very special player, Jalen Smereck, drafted by the Arizona NHL franchise is from the City of Detroit . As an African American young man succeeding in a sport that traditionally has not had a large number of African American players at the highest level of play, he is an inspiration and challenges the stereotypes of what a Hockey Player looks like. This is an opportunity to see great hockey and also challenge the young people in your programs to see what is possible with hard work and a desire to succeed.
