Due to the “Santa Run” at 12:00 pm on Saturday, December 6, 2014, access to the downtown and UM-Flint campus parking lots will be very difficult to access from 11:30 a.m until 1:30 p.m. Some limited street closures will occur beginning at 10:30 a.m. with the following streets completely closed no later than 11:30 a.m. on December 6th:
- Saginaw from Court to University
- Martin Luther King from 1st to University
- Harrison from 2nd to Kearsley
- Wallenberg from 1st to Kearsley
- Stevens from 3rd to 1st
- Kearsley from Beach to SB Chavez
- 1st from Beach to SB Chavez
- 2nd from Beach to Harrison
- 3rd from Beach to Harrison
- Mill St
- Campus Dr.
There are also limited lanes closures where vehicle traffic may pass next to closed lanes for runners on the following streets:
- 5th Avenue between Boulevard and JP Cole
- Beach between Union and 4th
There will be no way to access the Harrison ramp, Lot T, Lot A or the DDA Downtown lot. If you are coming to campus or the downtown, the detour routes are Beach, Robert T. Longway, 5th Avenue and southbound Chavez.
Parking on campus is available in the Mill Street ramp from southbound Chavez for both entrance and exit. The only other lot available is at the William S. White building off 5th Avenue. These are the only two parking areas accessible during this time. For the safety of the runners, once these streets are closed, officers from the City of Flint Police Department and the University of Michigan-Flint Department of Public Safety will not allow you to cross the course.
