Gas Line Leak Results in Explosion in the City of Flint

The Flint Police Department is advising the public that a gas leak on Dort Hwy. between I-69 and Court St. has resulted in an explosion. I-69 Westbound and Eastbound is shut down along with Dort Hwy between Court and Lapeer Rd. Flint Fire Department in on scene assisting Consumers Energy crews with containment of the leak and the resulting fire. Two adult male motorists received burn injuries in the explosion and both were transported to Hurley Medical Center for care, both being listed Per Dr. Mercer in Non-Critical Stable Good.
Crews expect to have the fire contained and the leak under control within the hour. The Flint Police Department is coordinating traffic control with the Michigan State Police and is asking the public to avoid the area. The MTA Bus Station has been shut down and Amtrak, the Genesee County Road Commission and MDOT have been notified.
