Flint Mayor Dayne Walling to Participate in Family Walk as Part of Commit 2 Fit! Mayor’s Wellness Challenge
Flint, Michigan – April 14, 2015 – Mayor Dayne Walling will be participating in a Family Walk taking place at Max Brandon Park in Flint on Wednesday, April 15 2015, from 6:30-7:30pm. The Family Walk is one of several events scheduled as part of the Commit 2 Fit! Mayor’s Wellness Challenge throughout the month of April. This year’s goal for Commit 2 Fit! is to engage 1000 Flint and Genesee County residents in healthy activities and eating habits through registration for interactive online tools and various community based events; so far over 600 people have signed up to participate. Participants can track their diet and daily activities online, monitor their weight and compete for prizes which will be awarded at the end of the month during an April 30th wrap up event at the Flint Farmers Market.
The Commit to Fit! Mayor’s Wellness Challenge is supported by a diverse collection of partners, including the Greater Flint Health Coalition, Crim Fitness Foundation, the Flint Farmers’ Market, the Flint & Genesee County Parks, Hurley Medical Center, the National Kidney Foundation of Michigan, Insight Health & Fitness Center, Genesys Athletic Club, Jazzercise of Court Street, the Downtown Flint YMCA, and the University of Michigan – Flint Recreation Center.
