Volunteers sought for playground Community Build at Brennan Park on Saturday, October 24
Flint, Michigan – October 12, 2015 – The City of Flint and Brennan Park Community Builders seek at least 50 volunteers to assist with the installation of a new playground at Brennan Park. The Playground improvements are made possible by a generous grant from the Ruth Mott Foundation to the City of Flint and Brennan Park Community Builders.
The Community Build will take place on Saturday, October 24th at 9am at 1937 Howard Avenue. Lunch, water and snacks will be provided by Keep Genesee County Beautiful and The Food Bank of Eastern Michigan. Volunteer support will be provided by Flint/Genesee Job Corps. No tools, experience, or skills are required. All ages are welcomed. Playground installation will be supervised by certified professionals from Sinclair Recreation, LLC. Volunteers are asked to meet in the volunteer room of The Food Bank’s Fight Hunger Center, which is located at Brennan Park. Parking is available on site.

The new playground is made possible by a $50,000 grant from the Ruth Mott Foundation. Additional improvements will be made the City of Flint and the Food Bank of Eastern Michigan in future phases, which are schedule to be complete by the summer of 2016. The City will be adding a wheel chair and walking path to the new playground from the Brennan Park parking lot on Howard Street that it shares with the Food Bank of Eastern Michigan’s Fight Hunger Center. In addition to their contribution of refreshments and building usage, The Food Bank has also pledged $30,000 for improvements to the park in addition to agreeing to refurbish the basketball courts. Plans for how best to use the Food Bank’s commitment have yet to be finalized.
