NEWS RELEASE: Water Resource Site in Ward 7 Moving on November 5

FLINT, Mich. – The Community Water Resource Site at the Dort Federal Credit Union Event Center will be relocating effective Saturday, November 5, according to the Michigan State Police, Emergency Management and Homeland Security Division (MSP/EMHSD).

The distribution site will move across the street to Grace Emmanuel Baptist Church at 3502 Lapeer Rd, Flint due to prior event commitments for the Dort Federal Credit Union Event Center. Flint water system customers are encouraged to visit any of the nine locations to obtain bottled water, water filters, replacement cartridges and at-home water testing kits.

“The Dort Federal Credit Union Event Center has been a valuable partner serving as a community distribution point,” said Capt. Chris Kelenske, Deputy State Director of Emergency Management and Homeland Security and commander of the MSP/EMHSD. “The water resource sites are based on a relationship built with our local partners—and sometimes they have prior commitments to the property. With many upcoming community events, it is best to relocate the distribution site. This will provide event spectators ample parking and offer consistent accessibility to Flint water customers wishing to obtain water supplies in the City of Flint. We thank the Grace Emmanuel Baptist Church for allowing us to move onto their site.”

The hours of operations for all community sites are Monday through Saturday: Noon – 6 p.m.

At-home water testing kits can be dropped off at any Community Water Resource Site or Flint City Hall, located at 1101 Saginaw St. The Flint Water Plant is no longer accepting the water samples.

A consensus among state, federal and independent water quality experts shows Flint’s water quality continues to improve and is safe to drink as long as a filter is in place.

The State of Michigan continues to coordinate response efforts in partnership with federal agencies, the city of Flint, Genesee County and local community organizations.
