Light up the City and Neighborhood Art Parades

The Flint Quilt is a collaborative project from Flint Public Art Project with Light up the City which sews together the city’s gardeners, block clubs, watch groups, neighborhood centers, community activists, engaged youth, and all of us who maintain the city. Individuals and community organizations are invited to create quilt panels under the direction of local artist Venus DeMarlo and in partnership with Carriage Town Historic Neighborhood Association, Consumers Energy, Elga Hispanic Technology Center, The State Police, University Avenue Corridor Coalition, and Walmart. Based on similar projects is which entire communities participate in creating individual pieces that will come together as a whole, squares will be displayed during FPAP’s summer Art Parades. The entire quilt project will be displayed at the Flint Quilt Festival in October, along with a documentary film by COlabs.
