The contractor is looking at next week to shift traffic over on I-69. They will start on Monday with some lane closures in preparation of the shift. To do this they will need to close a lane in both directions on I-69 from Dort Highway to Center Road.
It will take a few days of prep work in the area and then they will shift the east bound traffic onto the shoulder and start placing temporary concrete barrier wall on the eastbound lanes. Prior to shifting traffic they will need to close the ramps at M-54 (Dort Highway) and Center Road.
The following detours will be in effect:
Northbound M-54 (Dort Highway) to I-69:
- Eastbound I-69 detour: eastbound Lapeer Road to northbound Center Road, then eastbound I-69.
- Westbound I-69 detour: northbound M-54 (Dort Highway) to westbound Robert T. Longway Boulevard, then southbound I-475 to westbound I-69.
Southbound M-54 (Dort Highway) to eastbound I-69:
- Eastbound Lapeer Road to northbound Center Road, then eastbound I-69.
Northbound Center Road to westbound I-69:
- Westbound Court Street to southbound M-54 (Dort Highway), then westbound I-69.
Southbound Center Road to eastbound I-69:
- Eastbound Court Street to southbound Belsay Road, then eastbound I-69.
Southbound Center Road to westbound I-69:
- Westbound Court Street to southbound M-54 (Dort Highway), then westbound I-69.
Westbound I-69 to M-54 (Dort Highway):
- Northbound Center Road to westbound Court Street, then M-54 (Dort Highway).

Once they have the eastbound traffic shifted onto the shoulder they will shift the westbound traffic over to the eastbound lanes. From that point until they finish the westbound side we will maintain 2 lanes in each direction on I-69 between Dort Highway and Center Road.
Once we have all the traffic shifted over the contractor will start on the demolition work for the road and bridges. To complete the demolition work for the bridge over M-54 (Dort Highway) they will need to close and detour Dort Highway. This will start at 10PM Friday night and should be completed by 5AM Monday. I will send out another update early next week about the Dort Highway work once we are sure it’s on schedule.
