Come make a difference!
Students, faculty, staff and alumni are invited to join UM-Flint, Our Savior Lutheran Church and the North Flint Neighborhood Action Council as we work to board up and secure 14 vacant homes. Come help us install boards, paint, remove overgrown brush and clean up our community.
See the Impact!
This day of service will immediately improve the quality of life and safety of families on E. Mott Avenue who are working hard to take care of their families and their neighborhood. These families welcomed UM-Flint students into their neighborhood last semester for service-learning projects.
Come ready to serve!
All tools are provided. Wear layers appropriate for the weather and close-toed shoes or boots.
Special thanks to our partners and sponsors!
The Spark Board Up Project was established by Our Savior Lutheran Church in partnership with the North Flint Neighborhood Action Council.
The University of Michigan-Flint is sponsoring the event through a Community Impact Grant. This event builds upon the blight elimination work started by UM-Flint students in the Fall 2016 class “Healthy Planet, Healthy People: Shaping a Sustainable Healthy Future” (ESS/URP 140).
This Spark Day of Service is organized by the aforementioned community partners and the UM-Flint Department of Geography, Planning & Environment (GPE) in partnership with University Outreach’s Service Saturday (Alternative Breaks) Program.
We hope to see you there!
