Art of Our Own at Oak Street Senior Apartments

Flint, Mich.– Mike Naddeo of Mike Naddeo Photography was recently awarded a Share Art Flint grant to commission artists for the creation of new art pieces for Oak Street Senior Apartments.  The unique pieces will be inspired by residents of senior complex, who will take part in the creative process.  Artists are not limited to a particular medium and it is encouraged that all forms of visual art be represented. Senior citizens will be involved by way of individual interviews, forums and hands on activities and the artists will provide an exceptionally meaningful experience that cannot be replicated.

Offering the opportunity to interact with artists will educate the seniors on a variety of art forms, challenging their preconceived notions of what art is and what it means individually to the artist and the audience. By being involved in the process, residents will gain a sense of accomplishment, pride and ownership. This project is another way to encourage them to collaborate, experience new things and create artwork for mutual enjoyment.

Interested local artists are asked to visit mikenaddeo.com/art-of-our-own for additional details and the application form.  Entries are due by 6-10-2016 and works must be complete by 10-1-2016.  Only one entry will be accepted per artist.

This project is generously supported by Share Art Flint, Greater Flint Arts Council, GenForward Network and Communities First, Inc.
