Communities First, Inc. Gives a “Taste of Culture” through its Culture Shock Initiative
On Saturday, May 13, families and individuals of all ages are invited to Communities First, Inc.’s Taste of Culture event. CFI’s arts and cultural outreach program, Culture Shock, has organized this day of exploring cultures from around the world. Admission and all activities are free.
Participants will interact and learn from individuals from several different countries including Nigeria, India, The Bahamas and Jamaica. Displays will be set up showcasing aspects of other nations such as music, art and clothing. Representatives from the various countries will be available to share about their culture and provide a glimpse into everyday life around the world. Food from several countries will be also available to try free of charge. By engaging all the senses (sight, sound, taste, smell, touch) CFI will create lasting memories and strong positive impressions of foreign cultures.
Sponsors for this event include: Ruth Mott Foundation, A G Bishop Charitable Trust and Child Welfare Society of Flint, Inc. The event runs from 10:00am-2:00pm at Greater Heights Academy, located at 3196 W. Pasadena Avenue in Flint.
