Fight Hunger with the Food Bank during National Nutrition Month!

March is National Nutrition Month. At the Food Bank of Eastern Michigan, when we think about nutrition, we cannot help but think of the thousands of people in Michigan who face hunger on a regular basis. In fact, one in six people struggle with food insecurity in their households, and their stories may surprise you.

Hunger does not discriminate. Hunger does not care about gender, age, race or religion. Hunger can affect people who are unemployed or working full-time, and hunger strikes the most vulnerable members of our communities.

When Mercedes’ daughter was killed in a tragic accident, she found that her full-time job wasn’t enough to support herself and her six grandchildren. Mercedes is thankful that she can visit her local food pantry and get the assistance she needs to help supplement her paycheck.

Pat and Red are retired, but they have a hard time affording the medications for Pat’s diabetes and Red’s Alzheimer’s on their limited income. Mobile Produce Distributions provide Pat with fresh, nutritious foods and allow them to stretch their income a little further each month.

By supplying food to an extensive network of pantries, shelters and soup kitchens, the Food Bank is able to impact the lives of over 331,000 people throughout a 22-county service area.

You can fight hunger today by making a contribution to the Food Bank! Your donation will provide food for people who would otherwise go without. You can “Change the Face of Hunger” throughout Eastern Michigan!
