WHAT: PRESS BRIEFING
WHO: Chief Ray Barton & Flint Fire Department
WHEN: Monday, February 20, 2017 at 10:00 a.m.
WHERE: Fire Station #1 310 E. 5th St.
Details: The Flint Fire Department has purchased four thermal imaging cameras thanks to a grant in the amount of $5,200 from the 100 Club of Genesee, Shiawassee and Lapeer Counties. Thermal imaging cameras can detect emitted heat energy through a variety of filters including smoke and dust.
“Thermal imaging cameras can be used to see heat energy being released through a door or a wall which may indicate the presence of what we call hidden fires,” said fire chief Ray Barton. “These cameras can assist our fire fighters with rescue procedures, so they will be a big benefit to this department.”
Prior to receiving the “100 Club Grant” Flint’s fire department only had one thermal imaging camera. Now, a camera will be placed on each fire engine.
Join Chief Barton and the Flint Fire Department as they showcase the items and thank the 100 Club of Genesee, Shiawassee and Lapeer Counties for supporting them and their continued efforts to provide a safer community for the people of Flint.
